A clear figure needs clear assumptions.

Our planner separates gross salary, known employer contributions and outstanding costs. Rules as of 2026. Last reviewed: 19 September 2026.

What we calculate

A consistent weekly workload is calculated over 52 weeks and spread across 12 monthly salaries: Hourly wage × weekly hours × 52 ÷ 12. Paid holiday is included in this monthly salary model. We add neither a flat holiday supplement nor an additional 13th salary.

For employees of ordinary working age, we calculate employer contributions of 5.3% OASI/DI/IC and 1.1% unemployment insurance up to an annual salary of CHF 148’200. Declared benefits in kind remain part of total gross salary and the contribution base. We deduct them once from the cash gross salary paid. Accommodation is valued at CHF 345 and full board and lodging at CHF 990 per month. Actual household accommodation and food costs may differ.

What is still missing

Family allowance contributions, administration costs, accident insurance and actual occupational pension contributions are unknown without specific details and are therefore not silently estimated. You can add your own total. Even then, the figure is planning, not a binding payroll calculation. Withholding tax, net salary, night and Sunday supplements, irregular hourly wages, additional 13th salaries and special age or insurance situations are not fully represented.

No uniform nanny minimum wage

The scope of the federal standard employment contract for domestic work excludes people mainly responsible for childcare. We therefore do not apply its minimum wages universally to every nanny. For Geneva, we use the 2026 general minimum wage of CHF 24.59 per hour as a warning threshold. Higher rates for roles and qualifications and cantonal specifics must also be checked.

How to read the result

Without additional costs, the large result is a known subtotal, not your full employer budget. At CHF 24.59 per hour and 40 hours per week, total monthly gross salary is CHF 4’262.27 and about CHF 4’535.05 including the stated employer contributions. Add the outstanding costs. Individual figures are rounded to the nearest centime for display.
